Transcription and degradation of heavy (pre 28S)RNA and 4S RNA during embryogenesis in Limnaea.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Short (15 min) and long (1 hour or more) pulses with P32 have been compared at different developmental stages of Limnaea. In short pulses, as opposed to long-pulses, the relative percentage of 4S RNA is at a more or less constant level at all stages of development. Heavy RNA, i. e. heavier than 28S, is traceable with both short and long pulses in the uncleaved and early morula stages. Transcription of heavy RNA seems to decrease significantly immediately before mitosis. No other RNA fraction shows such a marked rhythm associated with mitosis.

The Effect of Herpes Simplex Virus Virion Host Shutoff Gene- a New Suicide Gene- on Tumor Cells
Background: The herpes simplex virus (HSV) UL41 gene product, virion host shutoff (Vhs) protein, mediates the rapid degradation of both viral and cellular mRNA. This ability suggests that Vhs protein can be used as a suicide gene in cancer gene therapy applications. The recent reports have shown that the degradation of cellular mRNA during herpes simplex infection is selective. RNA containing A...
متن کاملExpressional Analysis of Stem Cell Marker SALL4 in Mesencephalon during Chicken Embryogenesis
Background SALL gene family represent a group of evolutionary conserved zinc finger transcription factors which are involved in normal development. It includes four members (SALL1 to SALL4). SALL4 has significant roles in the maintenance of pluripotency and self-renewal, efficient proliferation /stabilization and cell fate decision of embryonic stem cells (ESCs). Our aim in this study was to a...
متن کاملMolecular hybridization of iodinated 4S, 5S, and 18S + 28S RNA to salamander chromosomes
4S, 5S, AND 18S + 28S RNA from the newt Taricha granulosa granulosa were iodinated in vitro with carrier-free 125I and hybridized to the denatured chromosomes of Taricha granulosa and Batrachoseps weighti. Iodinated 18S + 28S RNA hybridizes to the telomeric region on the shorter arm of chromosome 2 and close to the centromere on the shorter arm of chromosome 9 from T. granulosa. On this same sa...
متن کاملEffect of ribonuclease T1 on ribosomal subunits of rat liver.
The accessibility of 28S RNA within the ribosomal subunits to ribonuclease T1 was studied, in comparing results obtained after enzyme treatment of compact, K+ deficient 60S subunits and of EDTA-treated 60S subunits. RNA, extracted from the subunits, using a mixture of sodium dodecyl sulfate and phenol was analyzed on sucrose gradients. The RNA from active subunits was only degraded in high enzy...
متن کاملOptimization of RNA Extraction from Rat Pancreatic Tissue
Background: Optimized RNA extraction from tissues and cell lines consists of four main stages regardless of the method of extraction: 1) homogenizing, 2) effective denaturation of proteins from RNA, 3) inactivation of ribonuclease, and 4) removal of any DNA, protein, and carbohydrate contamination. Isolation of undamaged intact RNA is challenging when the related tissue contains high levels of ...
